Center for Global Surgery Guest Lecture

Mary Muthengi is a graduate nurse /midwife working with Jhpiego -Kenya as a Technical Officer. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Moi University (Kenya)and a Master’s Certificate in Nursing Management from University of Dundee (Scotland). She was responsible for providing technical guidance in the implementation of Obstetric Safe Surgery (OSS) and Proximie technology (Digital platform for virtual scrub-in in operating theatres) programs. The learnings of the two programs were presented in global arenas (WHA, IMNHC, ICM and ICN). Currently she is overseeing implementation of Obstetric Fistula and AMPLI-PPHI (Accelerating Measurable Progress and Leveraging Investments for Postpartum Hemorrhage Impact) projects in Makueni County-Kenya. She has over 20 years working experience in public, private and FBO sectors as a nurse/midwife practitioner and a midwifery tutor. She is a trained mentor on Reproductive maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) and Family Planning (FP). She is very passionate about saving lives and innovations. Her personal interests are documentation to inform policy change and learning on innovations for quality work. She lives by the motto of ‘Limits are unexplored zones’.
